What Are You Waiting For by Marvlec

Endeavor by Marvlec

Biography:
The evolution of the band has progressed over several years, starting in 2009 David Hamilton, the lead guitarist/vocalist, first had the idea to put a group together. He and Scott Dotson, drummer for the band, were the original members. The two knew each other as childhood friends and wished to come together to form what is now Marvlec.

From the very beginning, the two felt serious about their passion for music and the dream to one day create their own. It was in 2009 that these two began to play together, with David writing songs and Scott contributing his own influence through his rhythms on drums. They both found inspiration in any negative goings-on in their lives, seeking to take them and change them into positive things. Thus, the uplifting and optimistic influence was born.

Both felt that music was a positive outlet; a helpful and healing form of expression which could free them. As the amount and intensity of their songs grew, it became apparent that more members were required. They then sought a bass player. Ben May, another friend of theirs, was soon recruited. David and Scott were intrigued by his talent and originality, which they discovered while listening to him play for another band he was involved with at the time. The three were soon jamming together, further strengthening their friendship and musical chemistry. Ben played as the bassist for a few weeks helping David and Scott finish several recordings they had been working on, and in November of 2009, he was officially part of the band.

Scott and David agreed that Ben added character and grew naturally into the group. They all shared a sense of dedication to making their pastime something more. To them, music is everything. It is what puts energy into their every movement. Even from the start, the three artists have shared an extreme determination to make this their life's pursuit; far more than just fun and games. Though they did and still do play for the pure joy of playing, the boys always had firm plans of pushing the limits and making their music the kind that would not be forgotten. Even at this early stage, they have more than succeeded.

Still, their talent steadily growing, the three-piece band craved more body to their sound. It became time to add a rhythm guitarist. It seems almost a product of fate that their newest member should come along. Gustavo Lombana was exactly the element they were looking for. As a guitarist with experience and the benefit of having his own equipment, he was exactly what they needed. He had been looking for a band to join and heard of Marvlec, so he decided to approach them and see if they could work together. For several weeks, Gustavo practiced with the band and learned their music. The three quickly recognized his skill and natural flair, and in January of 2011, Marvlec welcomed their fourth and final member.

Accomplishments:
Though the band is still young, it is astonishing how much has been achieved. Marvlec has self-produced, self-managed, designed their graphic art, organized booking and funding, released an EP, and done their own promos. The list is endless. They've been featured in local newspapers and magazines, multiple times in some cases. Sun Sentinel and WeMerge Magazine are examples, as well as the cover of Our Town Magazine. Miami Life Magazine chose them as their featured artist, and they've graced Teenlink Magazine several times. Marvlec has opened for the popular band Fuel, as well as making an appearance on Miami Music Television. They were Band of the Month for South Florida 93 Rock, and were featured in the Largopalooza Music and Arts Festival in Key Largo.

Further still, Marvlec won the Battle of the Bands for the Next Big Thing Tour at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, placing first out of approximately forty other competitors. They won the Coral Springs Battle of the Bands as well, performing at Coral Springs Center for the Arts. They have won multiple prizes such as monetary awards, free merchandise, and well-deserved respect.

It goes without saying that Marvlec is a band of incredibly talented musicians. The members fervently agree that they have no plans of giving up, neither on the future of the music, nor on each other. They noted that it's hard work, but well worth it. And these boys are hard workers, indeed. Their friends and fans believe-rather, are quite certain- that they will absolutely succeed in chasing the dream. After all, that is what Marvlec does: they endeavor.
